Justification and (not or) Justice

I’m teaching a four-week course on Tim Keller’s book Generous Justice: How God’s Grace Makes Us Just.  The video above is a 29min summary of the thesis–and some of the subpoints–of the book.

What I like about Keller’s approach is that he is striking a very unifying note.  The American church, over the past half century, has divided (not so neatly) into two main categories: those who “do justice” and those who “preach justification.”  In other words, there are liberal social justice-minded church and there are conservative gospel-preaching churches.  Keller’s argument in the book and in this video is that the two concepts are utterly married in Scripture.  They go hand-in-hand.
